it works, right? If it’s that simple, then why the hell is it such a struggle?
Ladies, we’ve been looking at it all wrong.
When it comes to my health, I work with a coach. Not a drill sergeant screaming in my ear for extra reps or an extra kilometre on the spin cycle (if that’s you, go girl! Me, not so much). She’s Wellness Coach Amelie Chanda, and she has an entirely different way of looking at health – inside and out. And it’s changed my life.
Amelie jokes that she’s sometimes seen as a “last resort” coach by some of her clients. Meaning, they come across her only after trying and failing at various other weight loss and nutrition programs. Maybe it’s because they think “wellness” refers to being happy, meditating, yoga, journaling, gratitude practices, setting intentions etc. Things that, while important, on the surface don’t shed pounds.
Then Amelie delivers a mind blow: that IS the stuff that sheds pounds. And way more.
She told a story on this episode of the EmpowerUp podcast of how one of her clients recently lost 100 pounds in a year. Like…right? But that was just a small part of this person’s complete transformation. Their mood, interactions with others, attitude, motivation, enthusiasm…EVERYTHING improved. How did Amelie do it?

She starts exactly where you’re at and digs deep into the type of person you are, and who you WANT to be. Your potential as a person – regardless of what the scale says. And most importantly, asks WHY you want instead of WHAT you want. “We want weight loss, but what we ultimately want is feeling good in our skin, being confident and to being able to do the things we want in our life,” she explains.
